Why Wind Energy?
Wind Energy And The Beech Ridge Wind Farm Is A Good Thing For Greenbrier County, West Virginia and the USA.
Because it’s a clean, renewable source of power, wind energy is now the world’s fastest growing energy technology. At a time of national energy price squeezes and shortages, we need more cost effective, home-grown sources of energy. Like wind power.
• It’s clean energy – Wind power is a zero-emission source of electricity. Wind turbines generate electricity without producing smog, acid rain, or hazardous wastes.
• It’s made in the U.S.A. – Because wind power can be produced in the United States, it reduces our country’s dependence on foreign oil and natural gas and it contributes to local tax bases—creating new jobs, taxes and revenues for our rural communities.
• Economical source of energy – The price of wind never changes; it’s always free. That’s why wind energy helps provide price stability when the costs of other fuel sources spike.
• It's a renewable source of energy – Wind turbines make electricity without consuming our nonrenewable resources. And when these finite sources of fuel are all used up, the wind will still be here.
A vast majority of Americans (92%) say they are worried about dependence on foreign oil and want government to develop new energy technologies. The Beech Ridge Wind Farm will be a pollution-free source of electricity that will reduce our national dependence on foreign energy sources, add to the local tax base and create jobs for local residents while making Greenbrier County a center of innovation in the sustainable energy generation.
