Project Location
The Beech Ridge Wind Farm will be located in Northern Greenbrier County, covering less than 500 acres across ridges that have been previously and will continue to be forested and/or mined. Specific ridges with potential turbine locations included Shellcamp Ridge, Smokehouse Ridge, Beech Ridge, Rockcamp Ridge, Cold Knob Mountain (but not Cold Knob), Big Ridge, Old Field Mountain Blue Knob and Nunly Mountain.
Beech Ridge Energy will lease nearly all of the property for the Beech Ridge Wind Farm from MeadWestvaco Corporation, and very few other private landowners will be affected at all. The total project footprint will occupy less than 500 acres, including the transmission line, of the 70,000 acres in this particular tract of MeadWestvaco property.
