Water Pollution
Myth: Beech Ridge Energy will pollute the groundwater by using herbicides to maintain the property around the turbines and the transmission line.
Fact: Beech Ridge Energy will not be using herbicides to control plant growth around the turbines. Instead, Beech Ridge will seed the areas around the turbines and along the route of the transmission line with native seed mix that will be mowed on a regular basis. The only clearing planned would be of tree saplings and brush that could adversely affect the project site.
In addition, Beech Ridge will work with MeadWestvaco Corporation and local hunt clubs to manage the project in ways to facilitate the continued use of the property for hunting and other outdoor recreation activities -- in the same way it always has been available for these purposes.
