Myth: The wind turbines will harm bird populations.
Fact: According to a U.S. GAO September 2005 report on the impacts of wind turbines on wildlife requested by Congressmen Rahall and Mollahan, “In the context of other sources of avian mortalities, it does not appear that wind power is responsible for a significant number of bird deaths.”
Extensive wildlife studies have been concluded in connection with the Beech Ridge project, and these studies continue. No endangered species have been sighted within the project area and studies investigating migratory bird patterns have not produced any evidence of the project footprint being within a flyway.
