Imported Labor
Myth: The Beech Ridge project will create only a few low-paid, minimum wage jobs and most of the workers will come from outside the local area.
Fact: The Beech Ridge Wind Farm project will create approximately 200 jobs through the construction phase of the project. Beech Ridge just recently concluded an agreement with the representatives of the construction trade unions that will make sure the Beech Ridge Wind Farm is built with West Virginia Union Labor.
When fully constructed and operational, Beech Ridge will create approximately 20 permanent positions that will have full benefits and an average annual of about $35,000. Because these jobs require extensive training, Beech Ridge prefers to hire local workers for permanent positions whenever possible, so that extensive investments made in training pay-off with the establishment of a stable workforce that is committed to living in the area for the long term.
