Europe and Wind
Myth: Europeans are now backing off on the use of wind energy.
Fact: The truth is that Europe is dramatically increasing its wind power generating capacity and the European Parliament just voted in September 2005 to enact a 20% green power requirement for all power used throughout the European Union by 2020. Experts estimate that wind power will provide at least half of the additional power plants built to meet this requirement. In 2004, in one year alone, Europeans installed more megawatts of wind turbines than had been installed in the entire United States in the previous twenty years.
